Amtrak is a US government organization that provides intercity passenger train services to over 500 stations in 46 states. They serve around 30 million passengers per year, a number that's high in terms of total ridership but relatively low compared to inter-city rail usage rates in other countries. In addition to owning over 730 miles of tracks, 17 tunnels, and nearly 1,200 bridges, Amtrack leases a number of routes to state and other local governments. Some of these routes include the Northeast Corridor, the Philadelphia to Harrisburg main line, the Empire Corridor, and the Chicago to Detroit Line.
