Levi Strauss & Co. (commonly shortened to "Levi's") is a clothing company best known for it's denim. The company was originally founded in 1873 when Levi Strauss was granted a U.S. patent to make men's work pants out of denim, effectively inventing what we now call blue jeans.

Today, the Levi's jean is synonymous with blue jeans in American culture. Levi Strauss & Co. experienced explosive growth in the 60s and 70s as blue jeans became of staple of American casual wear, and they haven't looked back since. As denim sales began to decline in the 80s, Levi's launched Dockers, which focuses on men's business casual wear (e.g. khaki's, corduroys, and slacks). Dockers helped sustain Levi's growth through the mid 90s. Today, Levi's continues to be a primary player in the denim market with its popular 501, 511, 514, 518, and 527 series jeans, as well as its Levi Strauss Signature line.
