About Mr Gatti's Pizza

From Wikipedia

Gatti's Pizza is a Southeastern United States pizza-buffet chain. Gatti's Pizza was founded in 1964 and their corporate offices are located in Austin, Texas owned by Blue Sage Capital, a private equity investment firm.

History

In 1964, retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel James R. Eure opened a pizza and hamburger restaurant in his hometown of Stephenville, Texas.[2] He and his wife moved to Austin, Texas; and in 1969, he opened a pizza restaurant in Austin under the name, "The Pizza Place." In order to identify themselves apart from the rest of the pizza places, Colonel Eure undertook a name contest. Colonel Eure's wife's maiden name was Gatti, which soon won out many other proposed names and The Pizza Place was renamed Mr. Gatti's Pizza.

In 1974, Eure sold his chain of 18 Mr. Gatti's restaurants to a group of investors, but held on to a few franchises. The investors worked with Colonel Eure in helping the company grow by establishing in Texas and many other states. The chain has since changed hands a number of times.

By the 1980s, Mr. Gatti's took on a more modern look by adding a game room and a buffet bar into many of their restaurants.

Today

Gatti's Pizza current has over 140 restaurants. Some Gatti's Pizza restaurants which are larger in size are called Gatti Town and sometimes Gattiland.[3] In 2004, Blue Sage Capital bought the chain . Three years later in 2007, Blue Sage renamed Mr. Gatti's to Gatti's Pizza to reflect current trends.

History

Did you know that Gatti's ranked No. 20 on Pizza Today's "Top 100 Pizza Companies List" in 2006? And we're rapidly expanding throughout the Southwest, the Southeast and the Midwest?

Don't worry. All this success won't go to our heads. It goes right into our pizza. After all, we have pledged to uphold the principles and standards of our founder, Colonel James Eure.

Colonel Eure opened The Pizza Place in September 1964 in Stephenville, Texas. In 1969, he moved to Austin, our current corporate headquarters, and he held a contest to rename his first restaurant. Colonel Eure entered his own contest, and he won with his entry of the name "Mr. Gatti's," a tribute to his wife's maiden name, Gatti.

A perfectionist by nature, Colonel Eure worked long hours to master the elements that define the perfect pizza: real cheese (no imitations allowed), yeast-risen dough made fresh every day, our signature tangy pizza sauce and toppings that can't be topped.

Then in the late 1980s — seeing a natural connection between pizza that both kids and parents would enjoy and the need for wholesome family entertainment — Mr. Gatti's began integrating game rooms with top-quality, "All You Care-To-Eat" buffets. This new combination of big-screen TVs, video games and delicious pizza brought in the whole family to "Eat Up The Fun."

In 1997, we opened our first GattiTown in Oak Hill. This 25,000-square-foot superstore even devotes 10,000 square feet to a colossal Midway-type game room. GattiTown is the "central family district" for growing families who want their pizzas topped with a lot of laughter.

Colonel Eure's vision is now 140+ stores strong and counting, including GattiTown and delivery/carryout restaurants.

Today our pizzas are the life of the party, and our restaurants are active contributors to their communities. Pizza is, after all, friendly food — meant to be shared.
