| | Description: Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Durham, N.C., is the home of the Durham Bulls, the Rays' farm club in the Class AAA International League, the Duke University Blue Devils, the North Carolina Central University Eagles. It hosted the 2012 AAA Baseball National Championship and will host the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and the 2014 AAA All-Star Game. Opened in 1995, the $16 million brick state-of-the-art minor-league stadium has a quaint touch - a manual scoreboard. The DBAP (pronounced D-bap) was designed by HOK Sport (now Populous), famous for Baltimore's Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Forbes values this franchise - founded 10 years after the 1988 film 'Bull Durham' immortalized its predecessor Carolina League club - at $17 million, tied for 18th in the minors. The ballpark of the film, Durham Athletic Stadium, still sees some use, but the Bulls stopped playing one game per year there after 2011. PETA ranked the DBAP the third most vegetarian-friendly minor-league park in 2012. |
