AT&T Field, Chattanooga, Tennessee, is the home of the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Minnesota Twins' farm team in the Class AA Southern League. It also hosts an annual exhibition game between the Lookouts and the Chattanooga State Community College Tigers. In 1998, the Lookouts announced they would privately fund a new downtown stadium IF they could pre-sell 1,800 season tickets and 10 luxury boxes. Reaching those in 1999, they broke ground that March. The playpen opened April 10, 2000, with a 5-4 win over the Birmingham Barons. The Lookouts - the Birmingham Athletics until 1976 - ended Chattanooga's 10-season professional baseball drought by moving there. The pros first came to town in 1885 and hadn't gone by anything but Lookouts since 1897. Engel Stadium - which 'starred' as Brooklyn's Ebetts Field in the Jackie Robinson biopic '42' - hosted them for 60 summers. Pitching legend Satchel Paige began his pro career with the Chattanooga Black Lookouts in 1926.
