Groups To Join For Learning And Friendship

When you feel that you want to learn more about bird watching with other people rather than just on your own you will find that there is probably a club or organization nearby. Being that it is a growing hobby, more people are discovering the joy of going out with others to discover the many birds that are in their local area and even long distances away.

There are many local clubs that you may choose to check out and see if they are a good fit for you. Some of the clubs are casual and some are very serious about this hobby. You may want to go on a couple of outings with different ones to see which one you feel the most comfortable in. Lots of these clubs are small and have very friendly members that will make you feel welcome and part of the group quickly.

In addition, there are a number of national organizations devoted to birds that you might enjoy learning about and going to a few of their meetings or outings. These ones tend to be more organized and structured with many knowledgeable and serious bird watchers as members. Most of these people are very nice and welcoming, too, but can sometimes be a little intimidating for many beginning bird watchers.

One of these groups is the National Audubon Society. This is a group that has over 500 local bird watching clubs in US and Canada. In addition, it has somewhere in the neighbourhood of 450,000 members that participate in varying degrees. The Audubon Society is much more than just a bird watching club. Many people believe it is the ultimate conservation organization to belong to. Even though it is a very large organization, they will make you feel welcome and help you to have a great bird watching experience with them.

Another organization that you may want to investigate is the American Birding Association. This is regarded by many to be the number one organization of North American birders. The mission of this organization is to get as many people as possible to enjoy and help protect birds in the wild.
