Every 10 years the Constitution of the United States requires that the population of the United States be counted in order to set the number of members of the House of Representatives for each state. It is the Census Bureau's job to conduct the count. In order to do that the Census Bureau needs the help of over a million part time workers. This year (2010) it is filling those part-time Census Bureau Jobs. The Census Bureau has over 400 local offices where the Census Bureau jobs are filled. If you are interested in these jobs, with pay that ranges from $12 an hour to $25 per hour, contact the local Bureau of Census office. The Constitution of the United States (Article I, section II) directs that the population be enumerated at least once every ten years and the resulting counts used to set the number of members from each state in the House of Representatives and, by extension, in the Electoral College. The Census Bureau now conducts a full population count every 10 years in years ending with a 0 (zero)
