The Chinese New Year, also called "Lunar New Year" or "Spring Festival," is an important traditional Chinese holiday. Tue Lunar New Year signifies the end of winter and the birth of spring. As its name suggests, Chinese New Year falls on the first day of the first month of the tradition Chinese Calendar (January 23rd in 2012). The Chinese New Year celebration officially ends with the Lantern Festival, which occurs on the 15th day of the caldenar.
