Flower markets are primarily wholesale, open-air marketplaces dedicated to the selling of flowers and other plants. They are variously also known flower marts, flower exchanges, and flower districts, but differ from florists in their wholesale business model (although almost all flower markets included on this map offer limited retail hours at bargain prices). Flower markets are essentially cooperative marketplaces rented by local growers offering a wide variety of cut flowers. Most flower markets are open early in the morning (similar to fish markets) to allow local businesses to restock their flowers before opening.
