Ice fishing is the practice or sport of catching fish in frozen bodies of water. A line and hook is typically lowered through a hole in the ice to access the warmer water underneath where the fish are. Ice anglers either sit on an unsheltered stool next to the hole or in a heated shelter. Although ice fishing rods and ice fishing lures don't differ from typical fishing rods and lures, other highly specialized requipment is required. For example, an ucce saw, auger or chisel is required to cut a hole in the ice. A skimme (a large metal spoon with holes in it) is used to remove new ice as it forms in the hole.
