Mosaic is an art form in which images are created by assembling small pieces of colored tiles made of glass or stone. Mosaic artists produce decorative art (e.g. standalone mosaic pieces), interior decoration (e.g. mosaic tables or wall decor), or religious depictions (typically found in cathedrals). Mosaic tiles, also known as tesserae, are typically the only things visible in the piece, other than grout or whatever adhesive materials the artist chooses to use.
