Morris Meadows Recreation Farm
1523 Freeland Road
Freeland, MD
My family and I booked the Labor Day weekend at Merry Meadows Campground (formerly Morris Meadows) in Freeland, Maryland for Labor Day Weekend. Their website said their pool was opened every day up to Labor Day. We decided to make a long weekend and arrive on Thursday Night so we could have 3 solid days of pool time. When we arrive, our site is full of grass savings. I then her from the Life guard on Friday Morning that the pool will be closed because all the Lifeguards went back to school. She was only there for a few hours to clean it. I visited the registration desk at 11am and spoke with Lorraine. When I complained she slammed a complaint form down and told me to fill it out. I also voiced that I was upset that all the other amenities such as golf, race cars, driving range were closed too. I also discovered that exercise classes that I was excited about throughout the weekend were also cancelled. I requested to speak with the Manager/Owner. She attempted to call but no answer. I asked Lorraine to make sure the owner knew I wanted to speak with her and then asked for a rake to be dropped off at the site so grass shavings could be cleaned up. 3 hours later a “part owner” yet not willing to accept the responsibility of ownership arrive to clean up the grass. We had a conversation about my displeasure with the above and instead of discussing the issues he wanted to tell me some long story about how his Brother is suing him over the business because he and Lois took it from him. No concern for my displeasure was ever shown. No apology was made. No discussion on how they can make it right. The pool and activities remained closed and cancelled for the remainder of the day. We also missed out on taking the children for ice cream because they chose to close the snack bar at 8:30pm rather than the posted 9:00PM closing time. On Saturday at 12 noon, I walk the children to the pool. The lifeguard sends us away to walk back to the RV to find our receipt and show proof we are allowed in the pool. We were never told we needed to provide proof. I find the receipt, take it to the pool and gain entry. I then take a lounge chair and move it a total of 3-4 feet so it would be in the sun and was promptly informed by the Lifeguard that I could not move the lounge chair and if I wanted to be in the sun I would need to bring my own chair or lay on the grass. While at the pool I met a season pass holder who was not camping. I told her that I was waiting to hear from the owner and she pointed her out to me. She was judging golf tournament. I waiting until it was over and approached the owner. I explained I had requested to speak with her and had not heard from her. She cut me off by saying that she was aware that I had complaints and she did not want to talk to me until Monday because she was too busy. I told her this was unacceptable to ignore my request for 4 days. I told her my displeasure about the pool be closed on Friday and she cut me off again by telling me that I am ruining my own vacation by allowing their lack of service to upset me. This is ridiculous! She then cut me off AGAIN and asked if I wanted my money back. I tried to explain that this was not about the money but the fact that we chose to go there because of the amenities advertised on her website and the fact that they were not providing the product represented on the website. Se then put her golf cart in reverse, almost hitting me, turned on the road and left me there. I yelled out that if she wasn’t going to listen to me I’ll just post it on Social Media. Then as she drove away I said that I do want my money back. I return to my camper and started making the children lunch. Then, my Husband enters the camper to inform me that the police are here and the owner is kicking us out of campground. I walked out and asked the police why were we being kicked out because we had done nothing illegal and all I did was complain. She informed us this did not matter and that it was private property and they had to escort us out because she requested. She only gave us 1 hour to vacate which was not enough to properly clean, packed and get everything ready to leave. Because I complained this owner kicked us out. We had to leave our family behind and finish the holiday weekend at home. I was refunded only the days that I was kicked out and not the full weekend she offered in our conversation.

Royal Palms Park
7901 East Ben White Boulevard
Austin, TX
The Royal Palms Mobile Home RV Park. We called to reserve a long-term RV Lot, which we would arrive on July 24th, we were told that there was no guarantee and that we are better off reserving and paying for a lot immediately even if we were not there to occupy the lot, but if they could rent out our lot and refund us our money for each day it was rented. We reserved through the internet on July 19th at this time Royal Palms processed the amount of $705.00 on our visa. We arrived on July 24th as stated on our reservation, the Assistant Manager Griselda Trevino (Gigi) was very nice, and informed us of the long list of park rules and fines, then proceeded with a picture book to go over the rules of the park and possible fines, pointed out our lot location on the map and sent us on our way. No one assisted us to our location, we parked & put permanent blocks under our 5th wheel. The next day the Assistant Manager Griselda Trevino (Gigi) knocked on our door, informing us that we could not park our truck inline with our 5th wheel and that we were lucky that it hadn’t been towed away at a cost to us of $200.00, and that we had to move our truck over to the designated parking pad, and to make sure that our tires were on the pad and not more than halfway over or we would incur a fine. He also informed us that we had to move our 5th wheel another 8 feet forward as the door of the 5th wheel must be on the patio pad, which was not stated in the park rules. We had to hook up and un-block our 5th wheel to move it 8 feet forward so our door would meet with the patio pad. We left the next day for 4 days and returned to find a 8x11 note taped to our window, dated 2 days after we left. “Remove your bikes from the stop sign and put them on your lot or in a designated storage area” We do not have bikes nor do we have any children. We decided that we better leave The Royal Palms Mobile Home RV Park or we were going to get a fine for something that we were not responsible for. We hooked and packed up our 5th wheel and headed to the office of The Royal Palms Mobile Home RV Park, the same manager attended to us, we gave him back his note regarding the bikes and insisted that he find the rightful owners to the bikes. He stated “oh this was a mistake”. We said, your mistakes are not our problem, we are checking out. He looked at us and said as he held up the 8X11 note “this is nothing to get upset about, is this why you are leaving?” We simply stated that we are checking out now. The manager then proceeded to refund our money, but we were shocked to find that we were only receiving a refund of $183.47. We stated we did not sign a lease, and the manager stated “that’s right you didn’t and you are choosing to leave early and I don’t have to give you back your money” We told him this was highway robbery and theft. The only words that continued to come from this Managers mouth was “YOU ARE AWFUL, YOU ARE AWFUL, YOU ARE AN AWFUL PERSON, YOU ARE AWFUL, YOU ARE AWFUL, YOU ARE AWFUL” We simply stated that we have the proof, having the paperwork to back up our claim, the breakdown is 8 days at The Royal Palms Mobile Home RV Park $52.69 per night. The Manager was not interested in explaining the park rules regarding this kind of a situation. The Royal Palms Mobile Home RV Park are thief’s. Just as we were getting into our trucks to pull away, the Manager comes out of the building walking towards us hollering “if you put anything on the internet I will sue you” We are a couple whom has served our country for 13 years and my wife is an amputee, we did not ask for any special discounts. Our work takes us across the country, we have stayed in many RV parks, we have never been treated this way by anyone, as a matter of fact, 99% want us to return. We strongly encourage everyone to avoid staying at this RV Park, no one deserves this kind of disrespect. Stay safe in your travels.

About RV Parks, Campsites and Campgrounds (Continued)

...or cabins with limited facilities.

RV parks range from rustic facilities with no or limited hookups, as often found in state/provincial parks and national parks, to luxury resorts with amenities that rival fine hotels. Some high-end resorts restrict the type of RV that can stay to motorhomes of a certain length or longer, and/or newer than a certain year.

Most RV parks are open to all comers and rent spaces on a nightly or weekly basis, much like a motel or hotel. A few parks operate on a time-share basis.

While most RV parks are independent or operated by a government entity, there are some chains in North America. KOA Kampgrounds is the largest and best-known, while Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Campgrounds is another well-known chain. While not technically a chain, Good Sam Parks are paid endorsements by the Good Sam Club, a commercial firm that sells membership association that is, to a certain extent, for campers what the American Automobile Association is for travellers in general. (Some Good Sam Parks are also part of chains like KOA or Yogi Bear.) Listings of RV parks can be found in several printed directories; the best known are the annual tomes by Woodall's and Trailer Life Magazine.
