Tea rooms and tea houses are venues that serve primarily tea. Although the pastime of social tea drinking is most closely associated with the British, there are now tea rooms all over the world with various functions and cultural significances. This map shows locations in the US and the UK, where tea parlors are traditionally small rooms in restaurants or hotels that serve beverages and light snacks (e.g. crumpets, scones, jam) in a relaxed, subdued atmosphere. Traditionally, the clientele tea rooms is chiefly female, although by no means are men discouraged from patronizing them. Popular tea varieties include Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Sencha Green Tea, Devonshire Tea, Silver Needle White Tea, Wu-Yi Oolong Tea, and black tea.
