| How can MapMuse help me find places
to live, work, learn, and play? |
| MapMuse was born out of a desire to find better ways
to search for places of interest than existing text-based
or map searches. We wanted a map search without the usual
limitations; one that could display thousands of places
from multiple categories simultaneously. |
| For example, with MapMuse you could easily create a
map showing ski resorts that also shows the closest hotels
in your price range. Or you could map of all the golf
courses in your state, and then search for those with
the highest rating. |
| We allow our visitors to view hundreds of places of interest
on a single map without any geographic limits. This powerful
feature creates a way to begin a search for places at
a high level (e.g. statewide or nationwide), view clusters
of places of interests, and narrow the search by zooming
on a area of interest. |
| MapMuse aims to become a geographic directory connecting
websites with their locations in the real world. Any place
of interest can be added to MapMuse free of charge, and
every point on our maps corresponds to a real place. |
| How can we be sure our information is the best? MapMuse
researches and organizes the places in each brand or interest
category, and though we allow visitors to the site to
add or edit information for any place, our staff reviews
every change before it is posted to the site. Our goal
is to eliminate the 'junk' results common to many internet
searches, where third parties trying to sell you something
pollute the search results. |

on visitors' suggestions and other criteria. In the coming
months we will be adding hundreds of categories so please

| Can I suggest a brand or interest to
add to your map? |
| New brands and interests are added to MapMuse every
week, and we now have over 1,250 different topics for
you to peruse! Still, we have a long way to go...the priority
for adding new brands and interests is determined by suggestions
from our visitors. |

I know of a place that is missing from
one of your brands or interests.
Can it be added to your map? |
|
If you know of a place that you want us to add to one
of our interests or brands:
1. Go to the home page for the interest or brand you
want to add to..
2. Click on the 'Add a Missing Place' link.
3. Enter all required fields and provide as much additional
info as you can.
4. Click on the 'Submit Add Request' button.
5. You are done! Your place will be added to the map
after verification within 48 hours.

| How do I update or correct information
about an existing place of interest on the map? |
|
If you want to update our information about a place:
1. Click on that place's icon on the map to view detailed
information about the place.
2. Click on the 'Click to edit or correct this place's
info' link.
3. Make changes to the information as necessary.
4. Click on the 'Submit Changes' button.
5. You are done! The information will be modified after
verification within 48 hours.

| How do I add a photo to the "roll over"
information and the place of interest profile? |
|
1. Click on that place's icon on the map to view detailed
information about the place.
2. Click on the 'Click to edit or correct this place's
info' link.
3. In the Photo URL field, paste or type in the URL*
of the photo to be displayed.
4. Click on the 'Submit Changes' button.
5. You are done! The information will be modified after
verification within 48 hours.
* Your photo must already reside on a web page. To determine
the photo's URL, right click on the photograph and select
properties from the menu. The URL of the photo is noted
in the information. It will begin with http:// and usually
ends with .gif, or jpg. Try pasting the URL into a browser
to make sure it works before submitting it.

| I noticed that the location of a place
is incorrect. Can this be corrected? |
| Because of the vagaries and incompleteness of postal
addresses, some places may be located only approximately.
If you can improve upon the location of one of the places
on our map, we'd appreciate it! To do so, click on that
place's icon on the map and click on the 'Click to
edit or correct this place's info' link on the resulting
details page. Then provide one of the following: |
- Latitude and longitude (can be obtained from the map, it is displayed below the map)
- Complete address (if ours is incomplete)
- Nearest street intersection (if we have address but
couldn't locate the place) |
