Bastille Day Celebrations Across America

July 14th is Bastille Day.  What is Bastille Day you ask?  It is the anniversary of the day (July 14th, 1789) that a prison  (The Bastille) in Paris was stormed by those advocating democracy and freedom from the Monarchy.  The storming of the Bastille represents a turning point that put France on a path to democracy.  Bastille Day is equivalent to the United State's 4th of July.  The Bastille prison was destroyed after the French Revolution and a monument has been erected in its place.

In America, it is fast becoming similar to Cinco de Mayo and St Patrick's Day as a reason to throw a party. Being of French decent myself...I'm all for it so...."Viva La France!  and  "Faisson la Fete!"
